SAGA long term objectives
Contents
Introduction
This is a discussion of long and medium term objectives that SAGA should aim for, expected results and timetables for achieving them. The aim is to develop this into a white paper which SAGA could then use to inform its decisions, and in particular its financial planning. All SAGA members are invited to contribute.
Thanks to Sakkie Buys for bringing up the issue, and to Tristen Taylor for suggesting creation of a formal document. His example goals were: "5 additional clubs by 2009, 10 additional clubs by 2012, and a go centre by 2015". --Konrad
How do we shift the goalposts when a new year rolls around? I suggest that every time a milestone passes, we rename "medium term" to "short term" and "long term" to "medium term" and create a new "long term". --Slashme 08:25, 11 July 2006 (EDT)
Goals
What do we see as short-term, medium and long term? I think Tristen's suggested 3-year, 6-year and 9-year plans are eminently sensible.
I propose we divide the goals up here, with discussions about what we want to do, and by when, and what SAGA can do to support the development. --Slashme 08:17, 11 July 2006 (EDT)
Short term
To be achieved by 2009
Maybe SAGA should look at getting more Aketa-types to come, one per year or one every other year--Tristen
Establishment of new clubs
What we have to do here, is to identify what groups of people who would be likely to form a go club if properly introduced to the game, and who would be willing and able to introduce them to go over enough of a period to make them self-supporting in the medium term. --Slashme 08:17, 11 July 2006 (EDT)
The development of clubs is a grassroots sort of thing; comes from the bottom up. SAGA should develop a policy regarding how it assists individuals with clubs (boards, ranking engine, etc.)--Tristen
