In the 10th World Amateur Go Championships, hosted by IGS, South Africa’s top-player, Victor “Roseduke” Chow, became one of only two non-Asia-based players to qualify for seeding into the final round of 16. Unfortunately, time zone differences may mean his first round match may not be completed by the deadline next week, which would lead to a double forfeit.
With a 9-0 score in the preliminaries, held from 27 August to September 13, Victor has been seeded third in the final tournament. The other 15 players comprise 12 Japanese, 2 Chinese, and a Canadian 6-dan (unconfirmed), greenhouse.
