As mentioned in my last post, the second game of the Meijin title match is underway in Japan today. Another title match gets underway in Japan today, though: 5-dan challenger Yashiro Kumiko takes on current Female Honinbo, Chinen Kaori (3d), in the first game of the best-of-5 final.
In Korea, Yi Ch’ang-ho defeated Ch’oe Ch’eol-han again in the second game of the title match for the GS Cup. Once again, Ch’oe resigned.
In the Korean 10-dan title, the Siptan, 19-year old Song T’ae-kon (7d) proceeded to the third round yesterday. Song, who took the Korean Ch’eonweon (Korean Tengen) title from Cho Hun-hyeon when he was 3-dan and only 16-years old, leads Team Bomyang in the Korean Baduk League. Team Bomyang takes on Team Park Land in the League this weekend. Today’s match in the Siptan tournament is one to keep an eye out for: Rui Naiwei versus Mok Chin-seok, finalist in the 2004 LG cup.
