Western Cape players – check your index

I’m happy to announce a new, often-requested feature on the website: every player on the Western Cape rating system can now view their latest index. The rating system has also been moved so it can be used by all clubs partnered with the SA Go Clubs website. As such, the Western Cape rating system has been renamed to the SAGC rating system. There are plans afoot to integrate the Joburg club into the system in the next week or two, as well.

Thanks for this feature Steve, very useful to know when a promotion or demotion is imminent.

For those that don’t know, you need to exceed 1000 points to get promoted or drop below -1000 points to be demoted. Note that if you change rank your index value is reset to zero.

It is probably somewhere but I don’t find it : How is calculated the number of index point you get given the game, oppenent & handi you are playing ?

Ah, where indeed? Perhaps Steve will let us know the arcane formula. But know that it is complicated by factors such as how frequently you play the same person, maximum increases and decreases that seem to apply in different ways at different levels, and no doubt numerous other complexities.

The real question is when the rank graphs will be available online? Surely if KGS can do it, the resources of our combined clubs, which appear to consist chiefly of computer programmers, can also manage it!

You guys are never satisfied 😛

Just kidding – great to hear what you guys want next. Both of these issues are on the to-do list at the moment. Just not necessarily at the top of the list yet…
