Please read this post if you’re an Ordinary SAGA member
After finalising proposed changes to the constitution to address various inconsistencies and clarify certain issues, a new AGM notice has been issued – the AGM will be held on 10 September. How does this impact the rank-and-file SAGA member?
First, it would be appreciated if you could download the ballot form and vote regarding the proposed constitutional changes. If you trust my opinion (that’s me, Steve), I’d say it’s worth voting in favour of all the proposals. So download the ballot form, mark your vote and e-mail the document to Leander Gaum as soon as possible. Or you can print it out and post it /deliver it to Leander personally.
Secondly, stand for the council if you can. Paul Edwards is retiring – he has been a mainstay on the SAGA council since its inception, as far as I know, and it is very difficult to overstate how much he has done for South African Go. Leander has withdrawn his nomination, so that leaves 5 of the 6 council spots open. Victor Chow, Konrad Scheffler and Sakkie Buys have already been nominated, but clearly we need more people willing to serve on the Council. You can download a nomination form on the page with the AGM notice. Please note the deadline for nominations is in just 11 days – 30 July.
